ti-me has no account and no server, by design. There is nothing to check a licence against every month, nothing anyone can switch off from somewhere else, and no way for your own record to become something you rent.
A licence for one person, on the machines that person works on.

A future version 4 would be a separate paid upgrade, at a price you can look at and decide about. Version 3 keeps working either way.
Why it is sold this way
The architecture picked the model. ti-me has no account and no server, which means there is nothing for a licence to phone home to, no renewal date, and no month in which your own record could stop opening because a payment failed. Software that holds evidence should not be rentable.
It also means the price has to carry the whole thing at once: the build, the signing certificates on two platforms, and the updates that follow. $39 is what that costs without a subscription behind it.
What you are paying for
A small, quiet application that records your working day and hands it back to you as something you can stand behind. Not invoicing, not a team view, not a productivity score. One record, on your machine, that still says the same thing in a year.

ti-me is in alpha. It goes on sale once testing is done and the release build is ready, which will be soon.
People on the early access list hear first, and the first licences go out at a founding price.
